holds a Bachelors degree in Finance and a Masters degree in Business/Accounting. He passed the Certified Public Accountant examination after completing his formal education. Rex's secular work experience consists of six years with an international CPA firm, and two years as Corporate Controller for a conglomerate of oil companies. While in the oil business, he felt God's call to surrender his life, business and financial skills, and professional abilities to full-time Christian service.
Rex served as Associate Pastor of Administration at San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas for several years before he accepted the call as Assistant Pastor/Administration (Chief Business and Financial Officer) of First Baptist Church of Orlando, Florida. While serving in this capacity, he was ordained to the gospel ministry. Rex served at First Baptist/Orlando for over five years and left to develop Frieze Consulting, a Church Management Consulting firm.
Rex has taught and spoken at numerous local, regional and national conferences/seminars in the areas of church management and administration, minister's taxation, personal financial planning and biblical principles of finances. He has taught the Financial Management Seminar of the National Certification Program for the National Association of Church Business Administration, Pastor's Conference for Crown Financial Ministries and Federal Tax Law for Churches and Clergy for Christian Ministry Resources. He also teaches leadership development for the National Church Planting Office of the Church of God. Furthermore, he is the author of the FRIEZE RESOURCE LIBRARY, a collection of management and administrative resources that assist church leaders in organizing and operating God's house in a more "decent and orderly" manner.
Rex is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Society of Certified Public Accountants, Personal Financial Planning and Management Consulting Services Divisions of the AICPA, Institute of Internal Auditors, National Association of Church Business Administration and Christian Management Association. He has served several years on the Committee of Non-Profit Organizations for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Having served as an Assistant Pastor for numerous years in the church, and practicing in the business world as a Certified Public Accountant and a Corporate Controller, Rex is well aware of the unique pressures and challenges which are facing pastors, staff and lay leaders in the areas of church management and administration, biblical principles of money management and personal financial planning. Rex has deep convictions and burdens for the proper handling of the business and financial affairs of the local church. The mission statement for his Church Management Consulting firm is, "Assisting church leaders in organizing and operating God's house in a more decent and orderly manner."
